With her return back to the Big Apple, Hannah Petersen set her sights on performing in the city. As luck would have it, she would get offered a role in a new musical Miss Fairfield County: The Pageant: The Musical (written and directed by Matthew Meade and choreographed by Halle Augenstein). The show would be featured in the New York Theater Festival, being performed at Latea Theater in Manhattan.

A brief description of the show: it takes place at the annual Miss Fairfield County pageant, a pageant full of drama and scandal. The audience is brought in on the drama as it unfolds throughout the entirety of the pageant, and at the end, the audience gets the opportunity to vote for the winner.

Being Hannah's first new musical, she had no idea what to expect, but was thrilled at the idea of creating something new and setting the standard. The rehearsal process became a sort of trial-and-error process, something akin to her choreography process, so it was extremely familiar to her. It was very inspiring to see Matthew and composer Trevor Bourland work together to change and add things in real time.

With a total of 3 performances, the show received a lot of wonderful feedback and ended up winning many awards at the end of the festival. Hannah had so much fun working with the whole team, and cannot wait for the next step in this amazing show.
